Android Is Now Entering Into A Post-Premium Stage

Nowadays most of the people are buying mid-range Android devices as an alternative of premium devices. Research of Strategy Analytics Reports that Samsung Galaxy A51 was bestselling Android phone in the first quarter of the year followed by Redmi 8. The Galaxy S20 plus was the only falgship phone which came in the top-six ranking and it came in third position.
Juha Winter, Strategy Analytics Associate Director said that “In recent years, Mobile operators have reduced subsidies and due to this many countries are now fall down into post virus recession and due to this smartphone consumer globally becoming price delicate.” By considering all these reasons, The trends of consumer will be towards value for money and affordable devices plus it requires best specifications as well. Due to this Android is now entering into a post-premium stage.

Current research from Canalys shows a similar picture of trend, Although the two contradict slightly on which specific mid-range phone sold the most, It is due to different ways of counting process of handsets. Canalys counts that Redmi Note 8 and 8T as a single device and the 8T supports NFC and got first place ahead of Galaxy A51 but they both are agree that among all other android phones, mid-range devices are dominating.
It is not the new trend but in 2019 best selling Android phones are Glaxy A series and Xiaomi Redmi models and this trend of mid range or cheaper Android phones has continued into this year and which will be accelerate as a post-virus economies.
Apple brand appeares to be the exception to the rule and Canalys spike the iPhone 11 as the best selling phone in the first qurater of the year ad iPhone 11 Pro Max and Pro is taking 6th and 10th position respectively. But now Apple has started to enter into most affordable price range with New iPhone SE and due to this price sensitive trends of next quarter’s data will be with iOS.
